Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about the exams and preparing with PrepForScrum.
The Professional Scrum Master I (PSM I) is a certification from Scrum.org that proves your understanding of the Scrum framework. It is considered demanding because it requires deep understanding rather than memorization, and it never expires.
The PSM I and PSPO I exams take place online on Scrum.org. You answer 80 questions (single choice, multiple choice, and true/false) in 60 minutes and need at least 85% correct answers to pass. You can take the exam from anywhere; there is no proctoring, but the time limit is strict.
For most learners, yes, provided you take the simulations multiple times under real exam conditions and work through the explanation for every question. We also recommend reading the Scrum Guide 2020 thoroughly at least twice, as all exam questions are based on it.
Free question dumps can drill recall, but they rarely tell you why an answer is right, and their sources are hard to verify. PrepForScrum gives you an explanation with a Scrum Guide reference for every question, simulations weighted by a focus-area distribution we derived from the official exam structure, a weakness analysis that shows exactly where you stand, and a continuously maintained pool that goes through a review process. One real exam attempt costs $200, so walking in prepared is the cheaper option by far.
It applies to our full 80-question exam simulation; shorter practice sets and study mode do not qualify. Scored 85% or more in a full 80-question simulation and still failed the real Scrum.org exam? Send us a screenshot or photo of your result within 30 days of that simulation and we refund 100%. The first 14 days after purchase are a no-questions-asked refund; the Pass Guarantee applies in addition with proof.
Two options. Within 14 days of purchase you get a full refund with no questions asked: a short email to our support is enough. Or you use the Pass Guarantee: Scored 85% or more in a full 80-question simulation and still failed the real Scrum.org exam? Send us a screenshot or photo of your result within 30 days of that simulation and we refund 100%.
Each certification includes 400+ practice questions, enough for five full 80-question exam simulations, each following a focus-area distribution we derived from the official exam structure. Three practice modes cover different needs: exam simulation (80 questions, 60 minutes, exam-derived weighting), study mode (topic practice with instant explanations), and Repeat mistakes (every wrong answer comes back until you have answered it right twice in a row). Every answer comes with its Scrum Guide explanation.
For life. You pay once and keep your access permanently, including all future updates to the question pool. There is no subscription and no hidden follow-up costs.
Yes. PrepForScrum runs entirely in the browser and is optimized for mobile devices, so you can practice questions in study mode on the go. For the timed exam simulation, however, we recommend a laptop or desktop, just like the real exam.
Our question pool is fully based on the current Scrum Guide (2020 version) and is continuously maintained. Feedback from learners who have just taken the exam flows directly into new and revised questions.
PSM I is aimed at Scrum Masters and tests understanding of the Scrum framework and the Scrum Master role. PSPO I is aimed at Product Owners and focuses on value maximization, Product Backlog management, and working with stakeholders. Both exams comprise 80 questions in 60 minutes with an 85% passing score.
Yes. In addition to the timed exam simulation, there is a study mode without a time limit where you see the detailed explanation immediately after each question. Ideal for getting started and for closing specific knowledge gaps.
No. PrepForScrum is an independent learning platform for exam preparation and is not affiliated with Scrum.org. You always take the certification exam itself directly at Scrum.org.
